Kappeln an der Schlei und die evangelische St. Nikolai Kirche - Luftbild | Die evangelische St. Nikolai Kirche, zwischen 1789 und 1793 erbaut, ist ein herausragendes Beispiel spätbarocker Architektur. Ihr Fundament besteht aus Steinen alter Großsteingräber. Innen beeindruckt ein barocker Schnitzaltar von Hans Gudewerdt dem Jüngeren (1641), der bei der Kirchenrenovierung 1793 neu zusammengesetzt wurde. Ebenfalls sehenswert sind die böhmischen Kristallleuchter und die Christopherus-Figur im Eingangsbereich. Die Kirche steht auf dem Rathausmarkt und ist ein zentraler Punkt beim Stadtbummel.
